Examples to help you take your guitar playing beyond.

Between 2007 and 2009, I produced a significant amount of content revolving around my favorite instrument: The guitar.

This content has been sitting on my hard drive where it was essentially out-of-sight and out-of-mind for many years. I don't remember creating the bulk of it, but it appears that I was already a fairly prolific blogger back in 2007.

On the upside, it gives me the opportunity to re-purpose older content and create fun and interesting resources like this one.

Compiling individual blog posts into a single e-book like this isn't as straightforward as it sounds, especially when it involves formatting guitar tablature (a way of notating guitar music). Still, I felt that the content could benefit my friends, my colleagues, my students, and others who love and enjoy playing guitar, so I went ahead and did it.

Even though I can be a bit of a perfectionist, I opted not to do much editing for this project. Some extraneous text or errors were removed, and the text and tablature had to be formatted, but other than that, this e-book features the exact posts that once appeared on the now defunct David Andrew Wiebe.com - Tips, Tricks, and Techniques for the Serious Guitarist website.

While the exercises, drills, solos and tips aren't holistic, comprehensive, or otherwise relating to each other, there is still cohesion about them - probably because they were all created around the same time. In addition to guitar exercises, you will also find theory lessons, bass-specific drills, and articles that describe how to develop yourself as a musician within this e-book.

The astute guitarist will probably realize that there is something to be gained from the bass lessons as well. There is no need to skip over them.

I think one of the best things about the content in this book is that it's bite-size. You can plow through all of it in one sitting if you want to, but you can also take your time, process one section individually, and feel a sense of accomplishment for having completed a little bit at a time.

So, start improving as a guitarist a little bit at a time. A little bit adds up to a lot over time.
